Tape-In VS Clip-In Hair Extensions: Which One is Better for You?

Tape in Extensions VS Clip in Extensions

If you are looking for a quick way to change your hairstyle and hair color, hair extensions must be the best choice!

hair extensions before and after

Whether you should choose tape-ins or clip-ins depends largely on your needs.

Tape-in Hair Extensions

Like Clip ins, Tape in hair extension is a very popular type of hair extensions. It is a semi-permanent method of hair extensions.

According to the type of tape, it can be divided into ordinary tape-ins and injection tape-ins. On the other hand, if it is classified by the quality of hair, it can be divided into sythetic, remy hair extensions, virgin hair extensions and virgin+ hair extensions.

The biggest advantage of tape is that you hardly need to deal with it after installation unless it falls off. You can wear it for shopping, going to work, sleeping or even swimming!

This method should be done by a professional stylist and it normally takes around one to two hours to complete. But, we think it is worth the wait! Of course, if you have worn the tape for many years, you can complete the installation yourself, that's also great.

The tape is placed underneath a small section of your hair root, which should be slightly off the scalp for comfort, and the safety of your hair. And you won’t be able to wash your hair for two to three days while the tape is strengthening.

Once installed, Tape-ins can remain part of your natural hair for six to eight weeks, then they should be moved up to cover hair that's grown out. At the same time, it is recommended to use replacement tapes.

The lifespan of the extensions themselves depends on the type of hair they are made from. Usually, remy hair can last 3-6 months, virgin hair could be worn about 1 year, and virgin+ hair can last more than 18 months!

Clip-in Hair Extensions

Clip-in hair extensions are just as they sound. There are some clips sewn at the weft. You can wear them on your hair through these clips. This is an easy, fast, and affordable way to increase the volume. The great thing about this hair extension method is that they are simple to attach and you do not have to be a professional to use them, you can wear them by yourself! It only takes between 10 to 30 minutes to fit clip-in hair extensions.

If you want to wear it quickly before going out to make yourself more attractive, we strongly recommend you to choose it. Of course, you should remove it in time before going to bed every night. This is to prevent the hair from getting tangled while sleeping to extend the lifespan.

Classified by different hair quality, it can be divided into sythetic hair, remy clip hair and virgin clip hair. According to the frequency of use and whether it is properly maintained, remy hair can be used for 3-6 months, and virgin hair can be used for about one year.

So, we have learned that clip-in hair extensions are versatile, easy to use and simple to attach. What other benefits are there? Well, they cause no damage to your natural hair and they are comfortable for most people to wear all day. In addition, if you choose Remy hair, it can be dyed for a different style.

Well, the choice is yours.  There are advantages and disadvantages to both hair extension methods and it is often down to personal preference.
