How To Wash A Hair Topper?

Tips For Cleaning Your Hair Toppers

hair topper for thinning hair

For individuals experiencing hair thinning or partial hair loss, hair toppers serve as an excellent solution. Regular cleaning not only maintains hygiene but also preserves their quality.
Understanding how to clean a hair topper is crucial. The right cleaning and care methods help ensure they stay in optimal condition for an extended period.

The six key steps to wash a Hair Topper

1. Detangle:

Use a wide-tooth comb or brush to gently detangle from ends to roots, maintaining a consistent motion to ensure the hair crown topper is knot-free. This helps reduce stress on the hair and prevents unnecessary pulling or damage.

2. Prepare the Washing Solution:

In the sink filled with warm water, wet the hairpieces, and using a foaming net, create lather with shampoo. Apply the lather gently from roots to ends without rubbing or twisting the hair. (Be sure to use warm water and a high-quality sulfate-free, alcohol-free shampoo to prevent damaging the hair fibers.)

3. Rinse Thoroughly:

Rinse off the shampoo from the hair with warm water until the water runs clear. Ensure the water flows from roots to ends and make sure there are no residues of shampoo on the hair or the topper base, as this might affect the appearance and texture.

4.Blot Excess Water:

Remove the hair topper from the water and gently squeeze out excess water. Use a towel to blot away the extra moisture. Avoid vigorously rubbing the hair with the towel.

5.Smooth the hair:
Apply conditioner onto your hands and gently spread it over the hair topper, leaving it for at least 5 minutes before rinsing and squeezing out excess water. (The washing and drying methods are the same as steps three and four. Please make sure not to use conditioners or oils containing alcohol, sulfates, or similar ingredients.)

6.Air Dry:

Place the hair topper on a stand to air dry naturally, ready for future use. Avoid forcefully twisting, brushing, or combing the hair when wet.

How often should you clean it?

We generally recommend cleaning it after approximately 8 wears, but it's also essential to gauge based on personal usage and the cleanliness of the hair topper.

By following these steps and best practices, you can keep your hair topper clean, fresh, and looking fabulous for longer periods!
